- A great place to start looking is the attic. Obviously, checking the exterior is important, but to get a good visualization, you can go to the attic and look for any holes that may be there, because you might have light that is shinning though. This could be a sure sign of a leak.
- It is also always a good idea to check all of the tar, flashing, or roof cement. The flashing is usually found around vents, chimneys, and skylights. Make sure to check out all of those point areas to make sure there are no breaks or cracks in those areas.
- It is always a great idea to look at your home improvement records to see when was the last time it was repaired or replaced. Considering age can be a big factor, this could also give you more insight to know if it may be a good time to get an inspection done.
- Of course, it is always good to keep an look on the top of your building or house, especially after a big storm. Make sure the shingles and gutter all look good and working properly.
